Mattias Ekström has won the fifth round of the 2013 DTM at the Norisring. In a thrilling race, covering 83 laps at the 2.3 kilometres long street circuit in the city of Nuremberg, the Swede won on his 35th birthday from Robert Wickens and Christian Vietoris (both Mercedes-Benz). It was the first victory for Audi at the Norisring since 2002, after which Mercedes-Benz drivers were victorious ten times in a row. Behind Daniel Juncadella (Mercedes-Benz) and Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), Bruno Spengler was the best-placed BMW driver in sixth position. Rockenfeller defended his lead in the drivers’ standings. With 69 points, he is now two points ahead of Spengler.
