The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia began a year of celebrations to mark its first ten years as the region’s most respected and established sportscar championship today. Unveiling an outstanding entry and impressive, seven-stop international calendar, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia is set to further strengthen its position at the forefront of motorsport development in the world’s most dynamic region.
The championship, for identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racing cars and part of the hugely successful international Porsche Carrera Cup family, includes two championship titles: one for the overall winner, and a second for the non-professional entries. Both championships are intensely competitive and close, with the titles often decided by just a single point. The combination of the unsurpassed reliability of Porsche engineering, the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racing car, and rigorously-enforced equitable regulations all contribute to extraordinary success of the Porsche one-make series across the globe. In Asia, it provides the ideal showcase for true talent and enables regional competitors to benchmark their skills against respected international GT specialists.
As the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia embarks upon its celebration of a decade at the helm of Chinese and Asian motorsport, its prestigious calendar and thrilling field of brilliant drivers is set to cement its status as the championship for true sportsmen. When the field catapults off the grid at the start of the 2013 season, it will lead a new era of motorsport development in Asia.
