This is the all new Golf R Cabriolet and it will be the German automaker’s first drop-top ‘R’ model and will also be the fastest production convertible Golf when it makes its official debut in a few weeks time. Powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, the Golf R Cabriolet will have 261bhp under the hood and it will be able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 6.4 seconds.
It will also have a top speed rated at 155 mph and will churn through its gears with the smooth shifting six-speed DSG automatic transmission. The exterior styling of the Golf R Cabriolet will be similar to its coupe counterpart, with a more aggressive front end, gloss-black grille, and LED daytime running lights. Compared to the standard Golf Cabriolet, the Golf R will be almost 1 inch lower to the ground and will come with either 18 or 19-inch wheels.
Four individual sports seats will adorn the interior while the driver will get to enjoy a leather-wrapped, multifunction steering wheel. Volkswagen Malaysia has not yet said if the Golf R Cabriolet will be available in Malaysia, though if it is, expect it to come at a premium above the already pricey VW Golf R hot hatch.
