Subaru’s sales in the past few years have consistently increased each month. According to a recent report, Subaru is planning to raise U.S. production from 130,000 units each year to about 300,000 units a year as early as April 2016. With this strategy, Subaru would have to boost the output at its Indiana plant and maybe even open a new plant too, in order to evade the high price of importing vehicles from Japan. Subaru has already been able to beat its previous sales record of 266,989 units established in 2011 right before October ended this year. Subaru’s sales have grown by 26% through October. The Subaru BRZ may serve as a halo car for the brand but the recently refreshed Outback is still the brand’s star in the U.S., with higher sales in October than when combining the sales of the Forester and Impreza. It’s likely that the brand will be able to maintain, or even exceed, these sales levels since a new Forester will arrive in dealerships soon and the Legacy was refreshed. Subaru’s lineup has lost some of its quirkiness but judging from the rumors of what it aims for its U.S. production, it’s aggressive and doesn’t expect to slow down at all.
