Bugatti chief vehicle engineer Jens Schulenburg has just revealed that the next generation Bugatti supercar will do the 0-100km/h run in just 1.8seconds…….this is not a pipe dream as work on it has already started. He said that the biggest hurdle would be to cut the weight so they’re considering some technologies like wheels that are built from carbonfiber totally. Bugatti is also studying the possibility of hybrids as it has immediate pulling power. It is rumored that the car could have a possible output of 1600bhp and a maximum speed of 290mph. It may make sense to install a hybrid system.
Porsche will be depending heavily on a hybrid system for its upcoming 918 Spyder supercar. The problem is that hybrid drivetrains are heavy. Bugatti has more factors to consider than just putting in a big engine. An ordinary sports car won’t be able to carry an 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 engine and these improvements make the vehicle much heavier. Since the engine is big, it occupies more volume of about 9.6liters in total. It’s possible that this car will debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show but nothing is sure at this point yet.
