10 years ago Volkswagen released their first ever luxury SUV, the Touareg. It arrived in Malaysia to challenge the Range Rover, BMW X5 and the Toyota Harrier. With rugged good looks and the go almost anywhere 4×4 drivetrain, the Touareg was a best seller. Now 10 years later the Touareg celebrates its birthday with a special edition model, the Touareg Edition X.
Since 2002, the Touareg has been providing off-road competence of the highest level. Edition X will continue this tradition and will add numerous exclusive features. First, the Edition X runs as standard on 19-inch ‘Moab’ alloy wheels and, combined with the Moonlight Blue Pearl Effect exterior paint. Secondly, a large panoramic slide/tilt sunroof is one of the impressive features here. Moreover silver anodised roof rails, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and darkened rear light clusters in LED technology complete the look of this striking off-roader. In addition, the ‘Chrome & Style’ designer pack, tinted side and rear windows and ‘Touareg X’ logos on the wings are also featured.
Great equipment has been featured throughout the interior, which is in turn contributes to the great driving experience. First-class specification can be seen inside: for instance, exclusive Nappa leather trim in amber brown with a new style of braid embossed finish is being featured here. On top of this come decorative inlays in real ebony for doors and instrument panel, plus illuminated front door sills with ‘Touareg X’ lettering. At last, what grabs the attention is the colour-coordinated decorative stitching on the leather steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and fabric floor mats. Look for a possible Malaysian launch in small numbers to reflect its exclusivity.
