In conjunction with the upcoming Raya season, Goodyear Malaysia has just conducted its first St John Ambulance Malaysia (SJAM) safety workshop – an educational workshop to heighten the importance of road safety and tire care for the SJAM community at SJAM-Pantai Selangor area.
Supporting SJAM for the seventh year, the workshop is one of Goodyear’s many philanthropic initiatives undertaken around the globe reflecting its internal corporate values. In the last six years, Goodyear Malaysia has demonstrated its commitment to the SJAM community by donating tires to be fitted on the ambulances. In its seventh year now, Goodyear Malaysia has taken this effort to another level with its workshop that heightens the importance of road safety and tire care for the SJAM community. Additionally, 38 units of Goodyear tires, mixture of Goodyear Duraplus and G28 Flexsteel were donated to be fitted onto several SJAM ambulances.
“Our tires are built based on Goodyear’s core values of safety and market-backed innovation where we strive to deliver superior grip, durability, better mileage and fuel efficiency. Ushering into the Hari Raya season, our aim is to further highlight the importance of safety through this workshop – to remind our fellow Malaysians to take safety measures and check their cars and tires are in safe condition before travelling,” said Ivy Peng, Managing Director, Goodyear Malaysia.
Peng added, “For many years, SJAM has been a recipient of Goodyear’s philanthropic efforts because we believe that the services they provide are an essential facet to the development of the local community. These services translate to the prevention of harm and in saving lives.”
Conducted by Mr Chandy Samuel, Customer Satisfaction Director, Goodyear Malaysia, the one-hour workshop included road safety and tire care tips such as tire inflations, tread wear and alignment, just to name a few.
“The anticipated peak travel period during the upcoming Raya season makes Goodyear’s workshop highlighting road safety very timely and relevant. We are grateful and it’s an honor that our work here at SJAM is recognized. With brands such as Goodyear, we are definitely able to serve the community better moving forward,” said Dato’ Yeo Kim Thong, Chief Operating Officer, SJAM-KPS Foundation.
SJAM is one of the oldest non-governmental organizations in Malaysia that promotes the teaching of First Aid and related health care issues to the community. The organization carries out projects such as mass CPR training, Citizen Action and Response in Emergencies (CARE) and First Aider Training Project designed to place a first aider in every home across the country.
