The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1954 and some 132,000 units were built in the Portello factory in Milan, Italy. The 1st Giuletta (series 750 and 101) was a small sexy looking car manufactured by the passionate Italian car maker Alfa Romeo until the year 1965. The first Giulietta model was a coupe, then there was the Giulietta Sprint, which was introduced in late 1954. This was followed by a sedan in early 1955 and soon after there was an open two-seat Giulietta Spider, featuring a convertible bodywork by legendary coach designer Pinnafarina. In 1957 the most powerful version, called Giulietta TI (Turismo Internazionale) was presented with minor cosmetic changes to the hood, the dial lights and rear lamps.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta used an Alfa Romeo Twin Cam engine of 1290 cc straight-4, with light alloy cylinder block and alloy cylinder head with twin overhead camshafts. The original Alfa Romeo Giulietta engine produced a power output of 53 bhp in the sedan and 80 bhp in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint. This was to be increased to 100 bhp in later sporting models such as the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale and the Alfa Romeo Giuletta SZ (Sprint Zagato).
