Thailand car consumers will now be able to buy the all-new Mitsubishi Mirage “global compact cat” which competes directly with the new Nissan March, Ford Fiesta and Mazda2. A revolutionary concept was used in the development of the Mirage to meet the needs of rapidly expanding markets as an entry-level car as well as those of the eco-conscious advanced markets with its fine environmental performance.
A brand-new factory at Laem Chabang Plant, the biggest MMC plant outside of Japan produces the Mirage. This is the company’s third plant at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s (MMTh). The Thailand market is where the Mirage will first be offered. It will then be offered in the ASEAN countries, Japan, Europe, but we in Malaysia might not get it as competes ditrectly with the national cars. This Mirage offers a high fuel efficiency rating and has low CO2 emissions due to its all-new MIVEC engine and thoroughly reduced aerodynamic resistance and rolling resistance.
Its smooth handling is the same as that offered in a compact. It uses high-efficiency packaging to keep the interior space for five adults. The vehicle is 90% lighter. It contributes to fuel economy, offers more optimization of the body structure and provides a more extensive use of high-tensile strength panel. It is equipped with the Mirageuses Mitsubishi’s impact-resistant RISE body, which absorbs and distributes the force of impact to have high levels of occupant safety. A unified global quality assurance framework is presented due to a MMMPW (Mitsubishi Motors Production Way).
It comes with a high level of quality through MMDS (Mitsubishi Motors Development System), a comprehensive quality management system that sets and assesses/evaluates the achievement of specific performance benchmarks within every stage of operations from vehicle planning, sales and after-sales services. Furthermore, inspectors from its Japanese factories will be sent to Thailand to examine the manufactured units at the new third factory just to ensure that the same quality standards from its Japanese factories are followed. Before production, MMC’s will be going up against the Thai-market Mirage that will be equipped with a 1.2L MIVEC engine that delivers fuel efficiency of 22km/L which is almost on par with some hybrid cars.
