Honda intends to have ready for sale a hybrid version of the Accord sedan in 2012, according to President Takanobu Ito at an interview at the recent Tokyo Motor Show. Honda which is the third biggest automaker in Japan, is presently developing a hybrid engine system for mid- to large-sized vehicles. This would give Honda Malaysia a boost in their already successful hybrid range which sees the Insight and CRZ selling with little effort. Toyota meanwhile have the Camry hybrid sedan selling well in Thailand but in Malaysia they have yet to launch this model. Honda could well leap ahead of Toyota in hybrid sales if Toyota rest on their laurels.
