No confirmation as yet but this the early sketches of the replacement Volvo XC90 which is long overdue for the current XC90 which was launched in 2002. 9 years on and the design directions that the next-generation XC90 crossover may take looks good. The sketches reveal the variations in terms of the size and shape of the signature taillamps, the differences in the C-pillar treatment, and the various degrees of angularity in the overall shape with reduced glass area and more metal on the sides. A lot more modern than the current XC90 it would be the first vehicle to use Volvo’s upcoming Scalable Platform Architecture. There is a good chance that this new XC90 will carry only four-cylinder engines with direct injection and turbocharging like in the current XC60.
