This is the 2012 MINI Roadser, the latest member of the MINI family and the first open-top two-seater in brand’s history. Without wasting any time, the product planners and marketers at MINI are dishing out new products as fast as the marketplace can buy them.
This MINI roadster design stays faithful to the Roadster concept unveiled back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Some of the highlights of the 2012 MINI Roadster are the roll-over bars in polished stainless steel, the active rear spoiler extends automatically at 80 km/h (50 mph) as well as the latest-generation four-cylinder engines. Still, the most interesting feature is the manually operated soft-top roof with straightforward mechanism for spontaneous, rapid opening and closing.
As expected, the fastest version of the car will be the MINI John Cooper Works Roadster, powered by the 1.6-liter engine delivering 2011 hp and a maximum torque of 260 Nm/192 lb-ft (280 Nm/207 lb-ft with Overboost). The MINI John Cooper Works Roadster hits 100 kmh (62 mph) in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 237 km/h (147 mph).
