It has been a tremendous successful run for the Pennzoil GSR Racing team under the A6 class at the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) for vehicles under the 1.6 cc category this season. Clinching victories in all 4 races participated in Malaysia, Australia, New Caledonia and New Zealand thus far, the team looks certain to carry the Championship title under the A6 class at the APRC 2011. With 2 more remaining races in Japan (30 September -2 October 2011) and China (4-6 November 2011), the Team is confident to keep this winning track record.
Team owner and lead driver of the Pennzoil GSR Racing Team Gunaseelan Rajoo commented that “We are very happy with the results the Team has achieved. We have also thoroughly enjoyed all our races so far, being our first Team experience at the international level”. Gunaseelan added that the APRC 2011 experience has given the Team a good platform to participate in the upcoming APRC races in a bigger way, not only in promoting the sponsors of the Team but also our country, Malaysia, in that, we have budding sports personalities in the motorsports industry. The team has also been very excited with the performance of the Proton Satria Neo 1.3 that has been very competitive to complete every race participated at the APRC thus far, in first place under the A6 class against other Teams. Gunaseelan said that the Team engineers and mechanics have been very impressed with the durability and handling of the Proton Satria car in various rough and tough rally terrain roads as well as against other international manufactured cars. Yet another achievement to be proud of is that Gunaseelan Rajoo is also 3rd under the 2 Wheel Drive Class category whereas co-driver Jagdev Singh is currently first under the Co-Driver 2 Wheel Drive Class category. This individual achievement clearly goes to show that Malaysia is producing some great talents in the motorsports industry to be proud off. The Pennzoil GSR Racing team is currently preparing itself for another winter rally at the Rally of Hokkaido, Japan and a win would most definitely guarantee the Team the A6 Title Championship at the APRC 2011. All the best Pennzoil GSR Racing Team !!!
