Toyota Japan announced yesterday the “GRMN (GAZOO Racing1 tuned by MN2) SPORTS HYBRID Concept II”, its latest convertible mid-engined petrol-electric hybrid concept. The new car will make its debut at the 39th Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race, the same race, which will see the all-new Aston Martin Zagato Racecar with a V12 engine. According to the manufacturer, the new GRMN SPORTS HYBRID Concept II is in fact an updated version of the petrol electric sports concept shown last year at the Tokyo Auto Salon. It features an improved sports-hybrid AWD system with the main power unit (petrol engine, rear-wheel drive motors and transmission) mid-mounted in conjunction with a front-wheel drive motor. Moreover, the engine was positioned this way in order to improve maneuverability as well as the driving enjoyment. Toyota says that the car is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering a maximum output of 295 bhp but there are no details regarding performances of this new vehicle. The GRMN SPORTS HYBRID Concept II has a length of 4,350 mm, a width of 1,890 mm and a height of 1,200 mm.
