To mark the 20th anniversary of one of Casio G-Shock Premium collection, MR-G, Casio Malaysia and Cortina Watch hosted a cocktail reception to celebrate the occasion with the launch of a limited watch collection MRG-G1000HT in the presence of the Father and Creator of the iconic G-SHOCK, Mr. Kikuo Ibe at Cortina Watch boutique in Fahrenheit 88.
With a limited run of 300 watches worldwide, the MRG-G1000HT was designed in collaboration with a third-generation master artisan in the field, Bihou Asano, using the Japanese tsuiki technique; a traditional craft method that creates unique relief patterns through hammering. The tsuiki method has been used to create parts of the Japanese Railway, Bullet Train and Flying Machines.
Also showcased at the boutique were the MTG-G1000AR and the new FROGMAN GWF-D1000 diver’s watch, a new addition to its G-SHOCK line of shock-resistant watches. The MTG-G1000AR is finished with Rose-Gold Aged Ion Plating, and equipped with an Advanced Timekeeping System that receives both GPS and Radio Wave Time-Calibration Signals. The FROGMAN GWF-D-1000-1 shock-resistant diver’s watch is equipped with triple sensors and is designed to withstand the toughest of underwater missions with Atmospheric Pressure, Temperature, and Magnetic Sensors.
Mr Hiroyuki Sezai, Managing Director of Casio Malaysia Sdn Bhd gave a welcome speech at the event which was attended by customers loyal to the brand, watch enthusiasts and brand partners. Excitement was abuzz during the cocktail as they chatted freely with Mr Kikuo Ibe up close and personal.
Mr Kikuo Ibe further endeared himself to guests during his welcome speech where he welcomed everyone in Bahasa Malaysia and continued on in Bahasa for the first half of his speech. Through a presentation, he then regaled guests with the history of the G-Shock brand and the experiences encountered throughout the development of the brand to the success it is today. After his presentation, Mr Kikuo Ibe called upon Mr Hiroyuki Sezai and Mr Tay Liam Koon, Managing Director of Cortina Malaysia to join him to launch the MRG 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Hammer Tone, the MRG-G1000HT. The event was officially launched in the form of a demonstration to test the durability and toughness of the watch. The watch was put through the MRG Toughness Hammer Test Machine where it was forcefully smashed upon repeatedly and still did not break, proving it’s reputation for being ‘the toughest watch of all time’.
Guests were then encouraged to freely seek out the Father of G-Shock to obtain his autograph and have their photo taken with him. The evening came to an end with an exciting lucky draw which saw two lucky guests walking away with the Casio Free-Style Camera Outdoor Recording Gear -FR-100 which is worth RM2,149 each.
The Limited Edition Hammer Tone MRG-G1000HT retails at RM26,699, the MTG-G1000AR retails at RM7,499 and the new FROGMAN GWF-D1000 and GWF-D1000B-1 retails at RM4,699 and RM4,999 respectively. All the models are available at the following stores:-
