It’s difficult to imagine an SUV pulling off a convincing sportswagon or hothatch look, but the good folks at Vossen Wheels seemed to pull something in between the two off with this beauty. And yes, this beauty is a CX-5. The one the guy down the street from you drives.
The car went through a lot of changes, from the cosmetic to the mechanical. Right off the bat, the customised bodywork stands out, complementing the Kodo lines Mazda massaged in. The dark paint job gives this car the perfect tuner look and it’s topped off with some of the largest, finest looking wheels by Vossen.
They’re called the VFS2s, and they look fantastic on this MX-5 in all their 20-spoke-golden-glory. Behind those wheels, responsible for the cars new height – or lack of it – is air suspension.
The rest of the car’s innards appear to be stock, but it’s clear this was an exercise in pure aesthetics. One pulled off brilliantly at that.
