Proton is still on track to produce and launch its global small car. Proton’s new management/owner, DRB-HICOM has not given up on selling its cars to a global market, despite the project being held up for almost 3 years now. This new product has been dubbed GSC, short for Global Small Car is getting being prepared just for that role. The car under heavy disguise has been spotted undergoing winter testing in the Northern part Sweden, near the Arctic circle. This small car will sit somewhere between the A and B-segments, somewhat like the Ford Fiesta, Mazda2 or Mitsubishi Mirage.
The prototype is being tested by Continental systems for its ESP system to ensure a good Euro NCAP rating when it is ready. The car will most likely arrive as a replacement for the Savvy and is rumored to be on its way to the Geneva Motor Show, although the actual market debut might come a little later.
